If you grovel underneath you will find a joiner/junction box for the existing side lights somewhere. Just join in the wires for your new lights there.

I used some 2 core table lamp flex ages ago and it's still doing it's job :D

Yea fairly simple, get a length of good strong wire and join red to red and black to black then connect into junction box

    Here you go;
    White is the common Earth
    Brown is Right Tail light
    Black is Left Tail light

Might be no harm to connect the left tail to the right side light and vice versa. If either tail light should go, you would then have the side light still working on that side. :)

So for you light with Black and Red. On left side, Black of light to White & Red of Light to Brown. On Right Side, Black of light to White & Red of Light to Black.

Just tap into the red/black wires at either side and run the new lights off that.

    LEDs would be the handiest.

I have one side of the trailer done and connected them to the black and red wires but I noticed that when I use the brakes and indicators the side markers dim to nearly no light. The main tail lights and indicators on the back are also the bulb type would this have somethings to do with it . Or what is causing this draw of power and what can I do???

Are you using a relay box in your car/jeep?

Disconnect one of the old marker bulbs and see if the problem persists.

What wattage are the new marker lights. Are they LED?

Youve it wired wrong. You don't connect to the same colours. Think of it this way.Every bulb has to have one side connected to the white wire as this is the common earth. It doesn't matter which side of the bulb this is. (For good practice though, where you have a red and black wire of a light, black is the negative and red the positive). The other side has to go to either the black or the brown as these supply the current to the normal tail lights.

The red wire on your new light has to be wired into the black or brown wire on trailer.

The black wire of your new light has to be wired to the white earth wire on trailer.

When I swapped the wires as you said they didn't work so I swapped them again

This will explain it better. 'Front Markers' would be the side lights in your case.
    Is this what you did?

Now I have led lights on the back and are working fine but when I turn on the first Parker lights in the jeep none of my side markers the number plate lights or any other lights work. But when the lights are off in the jeep the indicators and brake and flashers work fine on the trailer m. What have I done wrong it's small anyway.??

As it stands the the red wire in the diagram shows how I ha2 tra side markers to the traile but wh I changed the back lights to LEDs to finish the job. When I tried them the indicators and brakes lights work fine. But when I turned on the light in the jeep no Parker or side market lights come on. What is the problem they were working before I fitted the new leds lights at the back. Can someone help me thanks in advance

Can you take a few pictures of each backlight showing how it's wired?
Other than that you may test for power in the black and Brown wires.
(Possibly disconnected them wiring up the side lights).:D
Maybe the led lights don't have night lights. I've seen some of the cheap magnetic lights like that.

What are you on about the red wire for?

    That's the stop light.

Do your side lights only come on when you put your foot on the brake pedal?
