    Hi all,
Just starting a new build and looking to put in a wet room. I'm not 100% sure of the requirements.

Apart from the basics, such as wall shower kit, side panel, and room tiling, what are the other things I'll need? I have costed all the above and I'm ok with the cost. However I'm told it will need some fibreglass the wet floor area and for the wall. Does anyone who what else goes into the installation and what rough cost of materials (if doable). I'm told the fibreglass is about e250 per square metre. Trying to get a more exact idea on costs and this is one of my last areas.

    Sound!

I've a shower area around 1500 by 900. If I remember correctly it cost about 300 for the fibreglass. They fibreglass's 2 mts high. I'd recommend getting a decent trap as well that you can fibreglass into. I paid 100 for one

Getting the Full metal jacket treatment there: €250.00 a square meter

I put in a wet room downstairs (on concrete).
Painted the whole room in rubber solution which is about 100 euro for 10 litres. Used reinforced tape for the corners and edges.
Then tiled on top of that.
    Much cheaper solution than fibreglass.

Went with a low profile large shower tray for upstairs (timberframe house).
Was advised not to put in a wet room upstairs on timber or I would be sorry!

There are different options to seal a wet room. Fibre glass is the rolls Royce solution and has the price to match.
To save money you can just tank it instead. I have 2 wetrooms one upstairs one downstairs. I wanted to fibre glass them but I found it hard to get people to give me advice, the tiler seemed on the fence and the plumber told me 'do whatever the tiler is comfortable with'
The bathroom fella that is selling me all the sanitary ware declared fibre glass a waste of money.
The fibre glass fella wanted the wet room floor all screeded out with trap (Get McAlpine wetroom trap) installed and a 1 metre to 40mm slope in place before he came and did his bit. With direct labour I struggled to find someone to do the screed at such an exact slope. The tiler screeded the FF one for me and he achieved a slope but not 100:4
It seemed to me that the fibre glass fella wanted someone else to do all the hard work - i.e creating a perfectly smooth sloped surface with a specific slope and then he would come along and paint fibre glass over it. Maybe if you have a builder it's easier to achieve this but I had to organise it myself so it seemed too much hassle and I just let the Tiler tank both wetrooms.

Did you paint that stuff on the walls as well?
