    Hi,

The job I work in is retail and all staff work very hard coming up to Christmas with 12 hour shifts etc.

In January I found out some full time staff are given an extra weeks wage and other full time staff are given a 250 euro gift voucher while part time staff are given nothing. Is this allowed and fair? What do you think.

I presume unless it is written in your contract that you are entitled to a christmas bonus, then your employer doesn't have to give you one.

Yes it's allowed. It might not be fair, but it's down to what you negotiate and accept.

@stheno. What do I do ? I hardly ask and say if the full timers got something are we getting something when it clearly wont be given. This information was found out indirectly off other employees there

You can't do anything tbh, life isn't fair sometimes.

Look at it this way, the bonus is not just for Christmas. Essentially it is being awarded to people who are contributing many more hours throughout the whole year.

Why do you need to do anything????

Unless you're not getting the wages in your contract, or not getting paid some hours you work, or not getting annual leave - then you are not missing out on anything.

Just because someone else gets anything doesn't mean you should too.
