Where to get fresh or frozen Venison fillets

    Hi,

I'm looking for fresh or frozen Venison fillets... if anyone has seen them on shelves recently in supermarket or butchers please post.

I'm based in D3, but thought this would get more replies on food forum than Dublin one...

There were some suggestions on this thread, but not sure if still valid (e.g. Superquinn is no more) and didn't want to resurrect a zombie thread:

    Thanks.

I think Lidl and / or Aldi have them?
Or maybe only had for Chirstmas?

Just checked - Lidl had them for Christmas anyway:

There's both a Lidl / Aldi down at East Wall Road if you want to call them / drop in.

Larry's Butchers (Marino Mart) on Philipsburgh Ave may have them:

and I can't end the post without saying to double check the price, as I heard venison can be deer!

    :D

I could have sworn that I saw fresh venison fillets in my local Aldi (Galway) last weekend. It might be worth checking out your nearest store OP.

    SuperValu frequently have them

Thanks, I did a recon to LIDL earlier in the week and very little of the deluxe range left - no venison :(

Never thought of Larry's, will keep him in mind...

Yes, expecting it to be 'deer' - this is one occasion when availability will trump bargain hunting!

Update: Will put ALDI and Supervalu onto the radar.

I've seen them in Aldi. It was before Xmas though so not sure if they do them all year round or if they were for Xmas only.

    Exactly!

Generally a number of different cuts of venison in the chilled section ( at least in ex Superquinn Supervalus )

Aldi still have them in the chilled meat area and they are not leftover Christmas stock. The production date given on the pack was after Christmas. 9.99 for 400g and from Wicklow, I think.
    They are really nice.

Bradys butchers in Fairview had them before Christmas.
Haven't been in recently to confirm if they are still there

Ok, sounds like my indirect way home this evening will be ALDI, taking in Bradys if ALDI is a bust :)

Not in Bradys any more so you can probably give them a miss.

There was two packets of these in my local Aldi last night.

I was tempted to buy them, but they were two deer.
