So I'm 31 (single) and I've worked constantly, paying PAYE, PRSI and USI (since it was introduced) since I was 16. Recently I left my job to go to another. It was a FTC and sadly the contract wasn't extended so now I'm claiming jobseekers benefit. A friend said I should fill out a P50 and claim tax back. I'm just wondering if it's just a simple case of filling out the form n sending it in to the revenue? That's all and they give you back money? Just wondering if there's a catch or if would affect my current dole payments? Looking hard for new job but since I earned it and paid it in taxes, if I can get it back that'd be great. If anyone done this and got money back how much was it?

No go right ahead and claim what you can it won't affect your SW entitlements don't forget to claim for medical expenses going back 4 years on a Med 1 form for each year.
