Does anyone have any recommendations (by PM) for a joinery that would make custom depth door frames for me out of Walnut?

Preferably in the North West or Northern half of the country?

Also - anyone willing to share pictures or experiences with shadow gaps around exposed door frames as opposed to using architrave?

I think you're referring to str beads for the shadow gap May wrong with the name We used quite a few in one of Ucc's buildings Some architects use them as part of their signature

I have the exact same issue as you with needing wide door frames in Walnut! I used a joinery in Mayo to make my front door I'll PM you their name I'm sure they would do them. I have a joiner (south) doing mine but he said he is only going to make what he calls 'skins' to fill the space that the standard (off-the-shelf) walnut door frame won't fill.
He said for him to make the entire wide door frame out of walnut for me would cost a fortune. I think he said 450 euro for 2 doors. So he recommended I buy the off-the-shelf walnut door frame and then he'll make up the difference.
I have a problem with different types of walnut matching either way! With his suggestion I have 2 different types of walnut (joiner made and doras java) side-by-side as part of the same door frame. If I got the entire door frame made by joiner walnut, it still won't match with the architrave which is off-the-shelf doras java architrave.
Are you going to use off-the-shelf walnut architrave and skirting?
