Its the 1998 version so the fluorescent tube, not the halogens/incandis/ or leds

Bulb is longer than the opening and I can't remember how I did it the past time
    I have the cover off
    Thanks as always.

Probably just need to twist it?
Sorry I'm not familiar with your extractor, just a guess

Thanks, I thought you might drop by!
The tube is out of the sockets at each end rotated and pushed up but no room to shove it left or right to drop out.
    Thanks again.

One side isn't spring loaded or anything?

Can you get at it by removing the filter?

No, its in its own separate compartment at the front.

Okay, just to wrap this up.
Smeg, for health and safety reasons can't tell me how to remove the bulb, its not a user serviceable piece:mad:

So I pressed out the middle of back panel of the section where the bulb is and I got it out enough to pass one end of the bulb up far enough so as the other end dropped down out of the opening.
Seriously risky play as if the panel springs back it will crush the tube, which is 17" long in a 14" (nett) wide ope.
Anyway, thanks, as always, for responding: no cigar this time:D

Getting the new one in will be the fun part! Is there an LED equivalent you can get?

Don't know, the newer ones have a different bulb layout,
will stick a timber wedge in it to keep it open while I pop in the new one.
