Hi guys , I got a a bench warrant in the door yesterday, the name of the person on the warrant I have never heard of and the warrant is for 'non payment of credit union installments' I found this strange as I didn't think non payment of credit union would be anything to do with the guards ??

It wouldn't be, but a bench warrant would be. Perhaps someone didn't turn up somewhere they were supposed to.

Just return it to your local garda station and tell them they dont reside at your address.

A bench warrant doesn't come in the post, it comes with a couple of cops and a squad car to arrest you, it's handed down by a judge (from the 'bench') and directs the Gardai to arrest you and bring you in front of that judge. It's almost always issued because you failed to show up for a court hearing to answer a serious criminal charge - either you got a summons or you were released earlier on bail and you didn't show up for the next hearing.

It sound like what you have is a letter from a debt collection agency dressed up as as police document and designed to scare you into paying up.

Why open it if not addressed to you?
