I have an arts degree with no prior experience in accountancy. I have no intention of going to college again. Just wondering what my options are?

Direct entry into accounting is only for school leavers. With a degree you'll have to go through the graduate route, for this you need at least a 2.1.
You don't need prior experience to become an accountant. You'll nee to pass through 3 sets of exams and at the same time work in an accounting firm for 3 and half years in order to qualify. Have a look at chartered accountants Ireland website for more info.

you can always sign up for accountancy qualifications - you can start cima or acc technician (as a starter)as offline courses as far as i know.

but if you want to be an accountant, then you need accounting qualification.

Other than qualifying for milkround with the accounting/auditor companies, its going to be very difficult getting an accounts role with an arts degree. You will probably need to spend 6 months getting some exams done first before anybody will look at you.

    good luck though.
