Going back to previous job....

Hello, Im a student in my early 20s who worked with an organisation last summer (i.e. a summer job). Apart from this job and 2 weeks of job experience in Transition Year, I have no other experience. The job i worked at last summer was a job involving reaching targets and so required confidence and a certain mindset.

Getting to the point, I didn't really perform that well at the job and was told at one point that if i didn't improve then i may be let go (which I understood). However, now that they are recruiting for the subsequent summer now, I can't help but want to apply again as the money was decent and if I got it, it would mean I have a job. However, im uncertain i meet the personality requirements for the job as I've low self esteem etc. Granted I was NOT fired from last summer and clearly performed well enough not to do so. However, if I was fired (once again, I may not even get the job) this summer, does that make last summer void?

I guess Im looking to the future when I put my experience on my CV. If I was fired from my second summer, can I really put the first down? Secondly, I'am I just out of my mind even applying for a job that changed my mood and I wasn't excellent at? Looking forward to feedback. Thanks.

You're in college, you'll probably suck at most jobs.

Apply, you've got nothing to lose. But apply for a bunch of other better jobs too. Take the best job that offered to you before summer starts. (Accept the first one you're offered, but if a better one is offered before summer starts take it and tell the first job youve changed your mind).

And don't overthink this: its a summer job, not a lifetime.

Thanks for the replies. I do intend on applying for other jobs as well but I suspect the people picked for this job will be picked in the next few weeks, and I may not get anything back from other places for months, but I will apply anyway.

Regarding getting fired I guess Im just worried about employ-ability in the future. Having last summer on my CV will look good, but doing this summer and getting fired may mean I have to remove that job from my CV?

Nah, its something similar but involves meaning people in person. I'd rather not be too specific, am paranoid of being identified lol.

Tbh, no harm in applying. If you don't hit the targets, so what? All you can do is your best.

Any job is better than nothing. It's only for the summer. Bit of money in your pocket and I find it is great for boosting confidence. Best of luck with your job search.
