    Hi all,

My employer is referring me to the CMO to see if a chunk of sick leave I took (due to an unmanaged chronic condition which is now managed) in 2015 can be discounted so that I can go for promotional opportunities.

Just wondering what experience anyone has had with the CMO? What the appointment with them is like? Do you think they will discount my chunk of sick leave (that hasn't recurred since)?

    Thanks.

My understanding is that the CMO will not discount leave unless you are being offered a position on promotion or a transfer and the amount of sick leave you have means you're not eligible for either. My understanding is that the CMO will not meet with you until you are being offered the position, this exponentially reduces the amount of such meetings they have to carry out.

My understanding of what the CMO will discount is that if it's a one-off non reoccurring injury/illness then it's quite straightforward and is usually discounted.
