Renewing Irish passport from UK Q's

    Hi all,

First off, I'm aware there have been a couple of threads about this in recent months but they don't really answer my questions but apologies for any duplication in advance.

So, I'm living in Manchester and my passport is close to expiring.
The way to renew it from my understanding is to request docs from the offices down in London via online form, fill them out, send them off and 4-6 weeks later I get a new passport.

My issue is, I've requested those docs just before xmas and have received no forms or any contact since. There are phone lines where all I can do is leave a message for somebody but haven't heard back from there either.

I'm a little frustrated so is it possible for me to get a family member back home to pick up the passport express forms etc. from the post office back home, get them posted over to me, fill them out and send them off from here?
Do those forms need to be countersigned by the Gardaí and if so is it allowable for me to hop on a flight, fill out the forms and have them signed back home and get the new passport sent to the family address back in Ireland?

    Thanks for any advice.

Aer Lingus don't require passports for flights between the UK and Ireland. I realise that doesn't answer your question but it helped me out with the same issue and a reversal of the jurisdictions.

Cheers, I'm OK to fly home to get it done (it's more a question of whether that's something you're allowed to do when living outside of the state), it doesn't expire til March so there's time for that, I just want it sorted asap as I'm traveling a lot come March.
