JSB & Seeking Work Within EU

Hi all, I was recently made redundant in the IT sector after 11 years, and I firmly believe I am highly employable. There is plenty of work out there and I can work.

However recent decisions have led me to actively seek work in an another EU member state whilst submitting a new JSB claim here in Ireland.

I will not move to that country until I find work, and if that is unsuccessful within the next month, then I will obtain work here in Ireland and I do not see that as a problem.

I went to sign on today and provided all of the appropriate documentation and forms filled out, including proof of contacting several recruiters in the target EU state, and I also have proof of contacting internal management in one multi-national company in the target EU state

However, I was then told that I should be looking and available for work in Ireland and not abroad. I have found documentation on an EU citizens information site that as an EU citizen, I can actively seek work in any EU member state, but I have not found anything on our own (Irish) citizens information website restricting me or advising me to only seek work in Ireland while claiming JSB.

I was told that they need to investigate. I am worried now that I will not get my JSB while I am seeking work and I will be contacted in a couple of days and informed of a decision.

What I have provided is honest and truthful, and I am actively seeking work.

Should I be worried that they could deny me JSB? And should I be prepared to ask where their policy states that I have to be actively seeking work in Ireland and not the EU?

    Cheers

    Newbie_JSB

If you have told them that you are only interested in looking for work outside Ireland then its possible that you have disqualified yourself.

Thanks for the reply. Hopefully I have not shot myself in the foor, but I am in touch with several recruiters here and they are aware of that.

Another piece of info I found is that I can transfer my JSB claim to another EU country for 3 months while I seek work. This should apply to me although I have no intention of travelling to a country for this duration without work

Yes once you have been in receipt of JSB for one month here, you can transfer it to another EU state and get the Irish rate into a bank account here.
Allow a bit of time to get it sorted.
