Best option for Sky box replacement

I've cut the cord with Sky (subscription ending in February) and am currently looking at options to replace it. There doesn't seem to be a solid combi box that has the UK terrestial channels (Freeview) and the Irish terrestial channels (Saorview) unless I haven't found it.

The tv i have has a digital tuner so can add saorview channels that way although i wouldn't be able to record shows I could use RTE Player to watch them.

I was looking at some Humax boxes for the Freeview channels - the HDR-2000T 500GB for £90 refurbished or the HDR-1100S 500GB for £180. I can't see any obvious benefits in the 1100S that would justify paying twice the money - am I missing something? Are there other boxes out there that would be better value for money?

Clues there in the T & S suffixes.

The 2000T is a terrestrial receiver, gets its signal from an aerial like Saorview, Freeview being the UK equivalent. Freeview coverage is pretty limited in ROI.

The 1100S is a Freesat receiver that you can connect to your dish.

I've got an openbox v8s. Has a coax port for sat and a coax port for saoirview. You can record TV onto a USB key with it.
    Cheap but effective.
Using 6 months and no complaints.

how user friendly is the openbox? i'm ok with tech but not everyone in the house is. does it require much intervention to keep channels updated?

Another option is the Humax HB-1000S Smart Freesat HD Box @ 79 GBP, another user recently picked one up from below site so might be able to provide additional details, I believe it records via USB rather than built in HDD and only has one tuner so you need to watch what you're recording but a cheaper option in case cash is a factor or else for a playroom or bedroom etc where the 1100 might be overkill. If you want hassle free satellite tv with series link, 7 day epg and auto channel retunes out of the box then Freesat is the way to go, you'll likely not miss the Irish stations except sport.

the difference in cheap and not so cheap will only be around €40. The difference in performance will be huge. Get an Edison combi.

Full 7 day epg. Built in WIFI, Auto bouquets. capable of running iptv and the other stuff which cannot be mentioned here.
7.5 % discount when using "BOARDS" discount as well. Brilliant box for the money.

Incorrect. The v8s only has a satellite input and loop connection and no saorview connection.
