I had a distaster yesterday and big blonde heifer jumped up and out of chute but back leg got caught momentarily. Thought it was broke but managed to get it out quickly.

She has bloody slime from her vulva now .. Calf still present but don't like to see that . Have her in tiny field and will watch for foetus ..how long usually for a hurt like that before I should expect her to throw it?

I had one handled roughly one time and it was 9 days

    Thanks

All you can do is keep an eye on her. The foetus is fairly well protected in the womb with all the fluid around it to help cater for disturbances like this and hopefully nothing will go wrong now.

I was bolusing another at the back.. She made space up the front and went for it and i didn't see her land on top of it or the point of impact to be honest ... Will watch her tight .. Gutted

Dried up there today day and no bit of springing or nothing and still very heavy on left side .. Maybe it was the big walk down from the hill that shook a rattle of bloody slim out of her, fingers crossed

Good stuff. Did you raise the height of the chute?

Have 7 or 8 here, some lovely heifers that I hope will quieten down a bit. Had to dismantle the crush last week to release a 7 month zag bull, he was a bit staggery for a while but at least he survived his antics!

No more for me thanks....wish I could have given a minus score on the beef genomics ratings for some of them.

I have one ZAG calf and she is mucho loco. ICBF have him at 4 stars docility and proven, so you have to wonder.

Yeah, you do indeed, they have OZS at 3 stars for docility within the Limousin breed, I think they're very quiet for lims.

Quietest animal I have is an OZS 2nd calver.

Was hoping to keep this Zag out of a BA heifer but she fairly flighty at moment also but they usually settle

I had over 20 FL22s here over the years and only ever had one wild one

I had a few beauties out of him as did the lads local to me but not 20 in fairness but maybe just too much lim breeding but they were cracked .. Worst one would go down on her knees In chute and go all the way up to the sculling gate underneath the other cattle every time you wanted to dose or whatever
