So you hear all these stories about lads bringing in fresh machinery from England and how its so well minded compared to here etc.

I am on the look out for a fresh second hand Mengele 40 harvester. Have one already which we bought new in 1994 and will keep it as a spare (so that if this newer one broke down, it would be just a case of backing into my original one and driving on). Have a good share of spare parts for them and know them fairly well. There very thin on the ground nowadays id say especially in Ireland.

In general where do the lads that find the machinery in England find them from? Is it a site like donedeal/ big auctions etc or what?

Cheffins auctions Cambridge. East Anglia has a series amount of gear but not what you are looking for as that is all arable ground so Midlands probably be better for what you are looking for

Id be wary of cheffins. A lot of scrap ends up there .
I know a machinery dealer here used to send his rough stuff over there to help drive the prices down there , so he could buy good stuff cheaper himself to bring home.
Silage equipment can be found there. but not an aweful lot

Afaik there is no good site like donedeal.
I find ebay can be good

Autotrader has an agri section too

A lot of dealers would have lads sourcing stuff as well

You just need a few things. Time , spare cash , the internet and some contacts.
And always remember one thing , if it seems too good to be true it usually is .everything is sold out the gate and no come back ..

I do a bit of buying and selling bits from England as I'm over and back every 2 or 3 weeks with my full time job.
There are few auctions around Derby, Gloucester and Hereford that are good for our type of agri machines.
I have picked up stuff from websites too, as it seems to be more acceptable in England to sell machines over the Internet.
Some of the gear is in England is in good nick, but like every country, there can be machines in bad condition. But the general condition is better than Ireland.
I found Cheffins to be expensive and a fair deal of scrap there.
