Also how do you freeze and thaw colostrum ?? Just to know how people do the above .I am sure people have different nacks
    Thanks

I find the cheap ones you get in the co op / vets are simple and best. You should only use it when you have to rather than on every calf just to get colostrum in quick.

    When defrosting, never microwave it.

The speedy feeder 3L bottle with the screw in stomach tube is so much easier to use than the bag

Yes .have 40 cows with me was hoping to go to 80 but looks a bit optimistic at moment .to get thing up and runing is taking a little more than I had thought .
Bulk tank and palour and lots of bits and bobs that 10 yrs out of dairying takes it toll on infrastructure .The last few weeks have been hard and have definitely questioned the move and sometimes thinking I should have kept my old job . There you just got on with it .Cash is king I am afraid .
    Anyways .

The old lectade one were good but the newer ones have a flatter end to the tube which makes it almost impossible to get the tube into the calfs stomach. I alway use stomach tubes for the first 3 feeds because I wouldn't have the patience or time to be messing around to get them drinking. I skip a feed after the third tubing and they will very quickly adapt to the test feeder with little effort.
