Wedding websites

Has anyone ever used a wedding website?
They seem good in terms of corralling all the important info into one place and might end up saving a bit on the invites this way by not having to include all the details about accommodation, directions etc.
However I don't know if they are that popular over here, they seem to be an American thing. do you think guests would use them? Would you find it useful as a guest?

    All opinions appreciated :)

We have one but I'm a software engineer so I just done it myself as a side project. Our wedding is right smack in the middle of summer holidays for most so we sent out a save the date a month ago to give people a heads up with a link to the website that has venue, ceremony, accommodation and directions information on it. About 70% of the people we sent the invites out to have used the website so I'm hoping for the same sort of numbers when we send out the actual invites and the RSVP goes live on the website.

I had one when I got married back in 2010, we had a fair few people travelling so we put directions from M1/M50 etc to the hotel, from the hotel to the church etc. Then we also put in links to alternative accommodation in case people wanted to stay somewhere other than the venue, and contact numbers for taxi companies.

We used The Knot for it. The Knot is American, so there was a lot of stuff like pages for gift registries etc that we just took out cos we didn't need them.

Been to a good few weddings the last few years and saw only one wedding website - but personally I think they are a great idea! Saves all the directions and stuff with the invite and you don't have to worry about fitting it all on a little piece of paper! Much handier being able to access the information you need online wherever you are than remembering where you put the invite to find the information.. :)
