Safari bookmarks

    My MacBook is full up with bookmarks. When I delete them, they return again. I have gmail and iCloud and time capsule backup. I think I imported the bookmarks when I moved from a PC some time ago. Can anyone help me to make permanent bulk bookmark removal?
