    Ive bein working for the past 2 year. My partner and the kids lived with her father for the last few year. I lived on My own. Ive always bein supporting with my wages the dont get any welfare payment im her only income. Should i have got tax relif for that or not since i was getting taxed as single. I dont no much about taxes

    Why didn't she get single parent allowance? You are effectively the same as two people where the mother is just getting some maintenance paid by the father of her children.

    I'm not getting into any view on the taxation morality of the situation, but simply saying that unmarried people get penalized by the system.

    If you have a court agreed maintenance plan then I understand that payment is tax allowed for you and tax payable as income for her.

    Spousal maintenance yes, maintenance for children no.

    She rang the welfare twice 2 year ago and explannled it to them. Both time the told her it was up to me to supply them with money and she wasnt entitled to anything.
