Went to perform a Google search there and I got a message telling me that due to unusual traffic from my IP address I had to do a CAPTCHA before proceeding. Is this an issue on my side or is it just that the IP I am using was used by someone else recently that may have had some sort of maliciousness going on?

That was happening a lot on the Three network a few weeks ago. It sounds more like a problem with google tbh, identifying the wrong IP addresses for the captcha treatment.
