    Hi,

Is it possible to refund an incorrectly bought ticket on the bus ticket machine?

i.e. if a ticket of type X was asked for and ticket Y was issued, can the ticket be refunded?

I am almost sure this happened to me a while back, and the ticket was refunded.

Similar situation happened recently and was told it could not (suspected the driver could not be arsed)

Yes a ticket can be refunded but only within a very short time of the original ticket being issued.

Short factual answer is Yes,A leapcard transaction can only be annulled within 2 minutes of being made ON THE BUS,however a refund is still available for contested transactions,as long as you raise the issue within 30 days of the journey.

Notwithstanding the "BS" spoken about ,the actual process falls within the remit of the NTA's Leapcard office.

Disputing a Transaction on a card

If you have a query regarding a particular transaction on your Leap Card, we recommend that you login to your Account to view your ‘Card History’. If you still think your card has been incorrectly charged, please email customer.care@leapcard.ie with details of the incorrect charge or call 1850 824 824 and a member of the Leap Card help desk will investigate the issue. Refunds for incorrect charges are only available up to 30 days from the day the transaction took place.

However,as you said...it's probably all BS,so why bovver... :)

I asked for ticket X and was given Y.
Immediately told my original ticket X is not available (it is)
I explained it is and was then told "Ive given you a Y now anyway".
I then asked for a refund and was told "Sorry I cant give a refund"

The BS is either the driver couldn't be arsed with issuing the refund or was not sufficiently trained enough to operate the machine.

What "Ticket" do you mean ?

If it is a Leapcard transaction for the holder,no ticket is issued, could you clarify the "Ticket" element ?

Sure - if you are interested, I mean ticket as in 'Airlink-City Centre Return' ticket type vs the 6 euro travel credit deduction for a single (not technically known as a ticket but only a leapcard transaction as call it).

You can buy a single or a return. As per my investigations on a another thread both are available on Leap, but most drivers are ignorant of this.

Might only be 2 euro between 2 x single and a return but I use the service at least weekly - so the 20% extra charge is fast becoming irritating.

Anyway - now I am sure returns are possible, I will know to ask for one the next time the driver carries on and whacks the 'single' button.

What if you buy a bus ticket to X but due to something, the bus is diverted or stops short of your intended destination?

Would imagine that would be an instance where you would need to contact leapcard customer care. Not that they're very helpful

But in that case you are not buying a 'ticket' as per leap card definitions.
You are paying for travel - I dont know how you get refunded here tho - prob via leap customer care as per howiya post
