Working and Getting Certified as a Business Analyst

I'm currently contracting as a BA on a huge project in a major company. Prior to joining my latest company I had with 2 years working as a BA (with no experience) on new software projects in a company that I was outsourced to as an SME. I was thrown right in the deep end and gained great experience here working through all aspects of the project life cycle. Also I worked 3 months on a contract job doing strictly operational readiness work which I was not so keen on.

During all this time I was studying at night for a degree in Finance and Accounting which I successfully completed. I have decided now after consideration that I would like to pursue further professional certifications related to Business Analysis work. I would like to get as qualified as possible and gain as many skills as I can in order to be the best as possible in my role.

My current BA role is quite challenging and whilst I have displayed an air of confidence in programme meetings and workshops, privately I feel I'm out of my dept a compared to the skills some of my colleagues hold. The guys are really skilled at requirements engineering, detailed mapping, gap analysis, traceability matrixes, slick powerpoint presentations, complex spreadsheets and generally all the tools a BA should have.

Basically now that I have the free time, I would like to to spend time in the evenings and weekends updating my skills and getting certified as a Business Analyst.

Anyone who is a BA could you share your experiences of the what courses you did to get certified (and the bodies) and what skills you find are most important for the BA role?

It would be an ambition of mine to travel and work globally as a BA so I would love to get certified in the shortest period possible.

Apologies for any typos as I'm on mobile. Thanks in advance.
