The most recent book ive read that I found inspirational was a Patti Smith biography by Victor Bockvis. Its very honest, presents all the ins and outs of Patti Smith, some of it not very pretty. You get to see how she grows and changes throughout her life and how the continuous rejections, knock backs and devastations she suffered, particularly in her later years strengthened and humbled her character. Its really worth the read.

probably the most inspiring book i know is To Kill a Mockingbird. in case you have not read it  i highly recommend it. very pure and restores belief in mankind in a way :-)

I've heard of this book too actually.

Seriously though must read it, haven't done much to my shame.

I second that, To Kill a Mockingbird is one of the most amazing reads, something for everyone!

Books that I have read that are inspirational are...

Relentless:The inside story of the Cork Ladies Footballers by Mary White

They went from no-hopers and in-fighting to winning Championships non stop

Miracle in the Andes by Nando Parrado

This is about a plane that crashes in the Andes and the survivors have to eat the dead to survive. Then they trek over mountains to get help. The movie Alive was based on it.

Touching the void by Joe Simpson

2 guys climbing a mountain but one guy breaks his leg. Other guy has to cut him loose to survive.Somehow the guy with the broken leg made his way down the mountain! Made into a move also.

    127 hours by Aron Ralston

This is about the guy who had to get cut off is own arm when it got stuck while climbing. He is a bit in love with himself though which was a bit of a turn off.Made into the movie 127 hours.

I just realised that 3 of these are all about climbing! The main point is that they are inspirational due to the never give up attitude of the people in them. In each situation I would almost feel it is hopeless but they keep going!

For some reason I couldn't get into Touching the Void, but I think the film is amazing.

I really enjoyed Touching The Void. The other guy, Simon Yates is doing a talk/presentation about the story in Dundalk in September. I'm hoping to go along.

I have 127 Hours still to read. The film was pretty good.
