Wish he'd slow down a bit. I've all those hour records in my own sights - if I don't get them I'll probably die trying.....

Some of the photos in this give a real insight into this man's bravery - tiny, wizened, ancient, indomitable

When you compare it though to Wiggins' distance last year, is Marchand's effort really that impressive? But then I suppose you could retort, how credible is Wiggins anymore?

Sorry but these titanium bits replacing bone goes with advancing years (and crashes) - not planning on storing any batteries in them though.....

We have our own legend here in Ireland. The jersey likeness is what made me remember this great cyclist Patsy Fitzsimons from Navan Road Club (in his 80's). These photos were taken last year at vets race by Brendan Culleton. I hope he doesn't mind me using them. All the best for the 2017 season Patsy, always one of my great inspirations.

A brilliant news story for cycling, sports radio may focus on doping etc without focusing on the sport but this is what cycling is about.
