Out of work for just over 9 months. No real prospects of getting a suitable job. I have been notified that I am being moved from JSB to JSA.

How long can I be on JSA? (until I am 66?) ...I have read with interest (and some trepidation) some of the other threads about Turas Nua and Seetec.

When do they put you on these schemes schemes ? and are theses "schemes" of any value ? or basically an attempt to hassle the unemployed to the point where they either take up any auld job (unsuitable or not) or simply voluntarily sign off the Live Register. ?

(and please, no condesention ... I have worked for 25 years and paid a shedload of tax in that time)

Everyone on JSA now is being referred to Turas Nua fairly quickly, who will, indeed, get you into any auld job because that's what you agreed to when you applied for Jobseekers.

AFAIK turas nua is generally for long term unemployed- over 1 year. Not always but in majority of cases.

Meeting people at the moment on JSA a month and being contacted by Turas NuaT
    It's in their financial interest

Must be different process for different areas, where I am it's long term unemployed. Short term are supported through intreo or LES and long term are to jobpath.

Short term unemployed now is JSB
As soon as you go on JSA your long term unemployed and that's across the country
Lots of jobs in retail and the general service industry right now so they're finding it easy to place people

Long term unemployed is over 12 months unemployed. On JB or JA or combined.

I'm aware of that, I just meant regardless of the payment a person is on, it's 12 months.

    >=12 months is indeed the statistical definition of long-term unemployment.

It's defined as 12 months in the DSP pathways to work document, which is the outline for all employment activation schemes including job path.

not sure if jsa is permanent or not,as for times until someone gets in touch with you it varies, usually its after first year that eventually they will ask you to come in,now intreo aren't pushy you can ask to do to courses or get cert in various fields-ecollege,manual training and sorts. Also its worth looking into Springboard while your free, given best time is before September when courses start, but thats a good option if theres desire and benefit in changing fields.

as for other agencies not sure whats the procedure since reading it gives not the best impressions. But in general your correct after a while they want you off the list one way or another, exception is only for those 55y or so my guess since its harder to find suitable position for older.

    Thanks, that what I thought.

So some variation in terms of regions but basically they will be on my case a whole lot more now that I am going to JSA and fast approaching 12 months unemployed in total.

Any advice on how best to deal with Turas Nua, JobPath etc. I am not against the idea of these schemes they probably help lots of people, but I do not want to be forced to work in some soul destroying job, just so some pen pusher can tick the box .
