    Hi all
Could do with some advice and help . I have purchased around 20 acres of rough ground. Its soil type is kind of peaty on top ( 3-12 inches ) and nice red soil underneath. I plan to dig it / plough it with an excavator, turning / mixing peat with red soil. You only get one chance of doing this right so looking for a top class excavator driver / owner who has experience of reclamation but it also fast enough to do it correctly and economically

Dont know what part of cork but I used kellys in ballydesmond for that work before and found there driver good.
That was a good few years ago but I dont know if it is economical now or if even allowed in some places.
probably be better to get a price for the job than paying by the hour so at least you will know what it will cost.

Is it nice soil underneath though? I would have my doubts

Would it be better to deep plough, if there is anyone doing that kind of thing in Ireland. They were at this crack with mixing soil in New Zealand, but that was when land prices were very high.

Yeah, it's hard to know what's underneath really until you have it opened up but the neighbour reclaimed at the other side of the ditch before and it turned up very nice . I do fear some of mine could be stone though.

I be thinking you would have better control of the end job also by turning. You be able to mix it better surely along with the ability to go deeper or bury the share of big stones . Any name of a good man for the job in Kerry ?
