Curious to see how The Dark Tower turns out. As a fan of the books I'm not sure how it will turn out on the big screen yet.

And John Wick 2 for some mindless fun.

I'm still working out my list of things to look for in 2017 but a few current items on my list include:
    • The Handmaiden (new Park Chan Wook is always a good thing)
    • Dunkirk (I'm intrigued to see what Nolan does with a wartime setting)
    • A Cure For Wellness (cautiously optimistic, and hoping Verbinski brings the surreal imagery he contributed to PotC to bear here)
    • Wilson (I'm keen on Clowes' comics, and Harrelson is a great casting for the protagonist in that particular title)
    • The Belko Experiment (James Gunn script, and the premise grabs me)
    • Despicable Me 3 (I liked the previous films a great deal)
    • Alien: Covenant (Prometheus looked great but had a dire script, so frankly as long as this doesn't manage to be as bad again - and Lindelof doesn't seem to be near it, so hopefully that's a good start- it should be worthwhile)
    • Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (looks like great space fantasy in the vein of franco-belgian comics, so I have high hopes of this)

There are also some things I'm kind of keeping an eye on, without yet being decided on seeing them:
    • Before I Wake - Jacob Tremblay was a revelation in Room, and the premise could be good, but Mike Flanagan has only really succeeded with Absentia for me, and I thought Oculus was a dreadful mess masquerading as a film, so I'm waiting on feedback for this.
    • Split - could be fun, but could also be appalling.
    • Wonder Woman - could be good, based on the trailer, but there again DC films have generally been dour, moping things so I'll be waiting for some feedback first.

'Dunkirk'. Hope it doesn't descend into the usual cliched mess that most war films do.

'War for the Planet of the Apes'. The trailer has me excited and I loved the other two films. Probably the best example of a film series reboot I've seen.

'Trainspotting 2'. One of the greatest films of the 90's. Here's hoping the sequel can come close. Great to see all the cast return.

'Star Wars VIII'. Well, it's Star Wars. Hopefully, it can improve on 'The Force Awakens', which wasn't bad, bit tested my patience in a number of areas.

Alien: Covenant as well, I really liked Prometheus but I thought Michael Fassbender's performance as David was out of this world (see what I did there?). It really is my favourite performance of recent memory.

I'm also looking forward to Baby Driver, but it's not out until August so it's quite the wait

All the comic book films named and not one mention of the most popular character of them all, Spider-man?

Speaking of comic book movies I'm looking forward to Wilson, it's based on a Daniel Clowes (Ghost World) book and stars Woody Harrelson.
