Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Afternoon all,

apologies in advance as I know this topic has been discussed multiple times but everyone seems to have a different suggestion or opinion.

Recently built a custom PC in order to get FSX up and running.

    SPEC:

    Intel Core i7 6700K
    Processor CPU: Intel i7 6700K Skylake 4.00Ghz (4 Cores)
CPU Cooling: Zalman x5 Performance Cooler
    Memory: 16GB DDR4 2133Mhz (8GBx2)
Motherboard: Asus Z170 - Pro Gaming
    SSD M.2 SATA: Optional Extra
Hard Disk 1: 2 Terabyte Hybrid with SSD Technology
Video Card(s): Nvidia GeForce GTX1080 8GB VR READY
    Sound Card: ALC1150 HIGH DEFINITION
Wireless: Asus 300 MBPS Dual Band PCI-e
    Power Supply: 850 Watt A/PFC 80+ BRONZE
Operating System: Windows 10 Professional Edition

unfortunately FSX steam out of the box looks very poor - do you have suggestions as to what payware/freeware addons to improve graphics?

any suggestions are greatly appreciated, completely new to this!

thanks and have a great new year!

    K

Have you considered buying Prepar3D or X-Plane? Both are more recent sims that would run superbly on your rig. Many developers are expanding their add-ons to those with a few of them already available. Do have a look around! And don't limit your search to Steam. The better stuff can be found like PMDG, Aerosoft, FlightSimLabs, Orbx etc

P3D is the way forward for flightsim and it will be going 64bit in the near future http://www.prepar3d.com/ $60 ain't much for the academic license.. For payware addons as said above checkout PMDG's 737 and 777, Aerosoft's Airbus package, Majestic's Dash 8 Q400, TFDi Boeing 717, Fslabs A320. I think a must for any simmer is Activesky16 with ASCA as a weather engine from http://hifisimtech.com/

For freeware stuff have a look at http://www.avsim.com/index.php/ and if you want to get into virtual online flying which is as real as it gets checkout https://www.vatsim.net/

Also a great way to findout more about flighsim I suggest watching a couple of really great flighsim twitch streamers it really is a great community there.
