Can anyone recommend a TV bracket (that is not monstrously expensive) that would swivel about 90 degrees to the wall.

    It's for a 49" TV with a width of 42.5"

Finding it hard to locate one that extends enough from the wall

Did you have any luck? I just threw up a similar thread, that could possible be closed given you have this here.

Possibly, there's one in Argos that may do the job

I did a wee bit of searching at lunch time, and i have potentially found a reasonably priced solution:

Edit: 90 degrees could be the challenging bit.

I think this the one I was looking at, price seems about right

    http://www.argos.co.uk/product/5032767

Extends further than half of my 49"

Can't see anything on the Power City one saying how far it extends

Power City one only extends 464mm, only good for upto 36" TV

Screen size is just for guidance, the specs. that really matter are....

    1. Does the bracket support the VESA (screw) pattern (e.g. 200 x 200) on my TV

    2. Is my TV below the maximum stated weight supported. A swivel or tilting bracket should always state a maximum weight.

If my TV is 1100mm wide then it needs a minimum 550mm clearance from the wall to be able to swivel a full 90 degree

    This is my telly: http://www.lg.com/uk/tvs/lg-47LB580V
So in answer to your questions (which is a good check for me):
    1. Vesa Size = 400 x 400
    2. Set = 12.3kg, with stand = 15.5kg.

So the one i linked has a weight limit up to 40kg, and works with 400 x 400 Vesa

I have a 42" tv and when we got a wall to ceiling unit, I had this problem. All the brackets I found were either too small or wouldn't turn 90 so I rang a local tv installations guy and he was able to get me an industrial one, he said he used them for pubs and clubs. No name on it but I’ll try and find out...maybe you could ring someone like that to help you out? edit: I do remember he got it in Peats Wholesalers

    this could be it: http://www.peatswholesale.ie/Double-arm-support-folds-flat-to-wall-For-screens-from-26-up-to-50.html

That matches your physical specs. so all you have to do then is make sure it meets your tilt and/or swivel requirements. You'll be removing the stand if you're mounting it on a bracket.

I got the aforementioned Argos one

Only thing I'm not sure of is what to use to attach the bracket to the wall - anyone know whats best

TV is 11kg, got some coach screws, not sure if they are up to the job

    Argos have these
    http://www.argos.ie/static/Product/partNumber/1075869/Trail/searchtext%3ETV+BRACKET+FIXING+KIT.htm
    and
    http://www.argos.ie/static/Product/partNumber/5652879/Trail/searchtext%3ETV+BRACKET+FIXING+KIT.htm

Neither inspire confidence as there will be pressure both ways on the screws

    Or use tapcons
