Hot on the wings of Man Flu, Bird Flu has been discovered in a widgeon acting drunk in Wexford on Wednesday.
Witnesses say the bird was disorientated, breaching public order, could not remember its address and could not fly.

H5N8 is highly infectious. And now the weather.

As a chicken owner this is grim news. The poor chickens have been stuck indoors all Christmas. They are not happy and well able to bitch and moan.
I only have 2 so I can bring them into the house for a run around. They chase the dog so he's not happy either. Another 23 of lock down.

If chance might have it that it became transmittable between humans the disease would kill it's host too quickly for it to have any far reaching or pandemic impact

The chances of coming across wildfowl with the virus are quite unlikely. There are probably many more birds carrying the virus than the two found to date.
