Just a matter of time before it can be transmitted from person to person.

60% mortality rate if, and when, that happens.

Professor, without knowing precisely what the danger is, would you say it's time for our viewers to crack each other's heads open and feast on the goo inside?

    Does nobody care?
Are H5N8 birds less important than cows with BSE? Are we putting soldiers on the border to prevent the spread of H5N8? Where is Enda Kenny??

Negotiating a bailout for Chinese restaurants due to the fall off in trade from shredded duck and pancakes.

I saw a magpie sneezing earlier and the baxtard didn't even cover his beak.

Hope it has a 100% strike rate on the doom and gloom merchants. :D

The border with great Britain is in the middle of the Irish sea, how do you suggest we deploy troops?

We give the troops wellies and umbrellas and order them to prevent any birds from flying into the free state!
We must protect our right to €3 flu free chickens in our supermarkets

In order to deal with this the first step should be getting all of our ducks in a row,

As a chicken owner this is grim news. The poor chickens have been stuck indoors all Christmas. They are not happy and well able to bitch and moan.
I only have 2 so I can bring them into the house for a run around. They chase the dog so he's not happy either. Another 23 of lock down.

If chance might have it that it became transmittable between humans the disease would kill it's host too quickly for it to have any far reaching or pandemic impact

It hasn't jumped to humans so calm the hell down.
It could decimate the livelihoods of poultry farmers.

The chances of coming across wildfowl with the virus are quite unlikely. There are probably many more birds carrying the virus than the two found to date.
