VAT Registration?

    Hi
I am thinking about starting a new business as a sole trader. I will be selling goods to private customers in Ireland and the EU. I have looked on the Revenue website, and think I will be covered by distance sales for the EU sales, and I charge Irish VAT until I reach the threshold in the individual EU country. At the moment I am not registered for Irish VAT and I won't reach the goods threshold of €75k anytime soon. In order to sell to the EU do I have to register for Irish VAT?

    Thanks
