    Can i fully open old manual check down valve on bottom of cylinder now that i have water and heating zoned with motorised valves and thermostats

    No, this is a valve that balances the flow rate between the heating circuit and hot water circuit.
    Although the zones are now split, at times they will be on at the same time, therefore the system needs to be balanced as per usual.
