    Hi all,

I've been struggling to get job interviews over the last while due to my lack of experience.

I have an Arts degree and a masters in Library and Communication Studies and I'm looking for positions in office administration, bookkeeping and payroll.

Basically I want to know if anyone knows there is any online courses/night courses or even places that offer internships I could take that would increase my chances of finding something.

    Thanks

There are some courses on fetchcourses.ie for unemployed people and they are specifically to help with training for your occupation so try putting office/payroll etc into the search bar.
Some do not include a work placement though. Have you looked into doing a community employment scheme? I don't know if you're eligible or not. Or volunteering to get some experience. Best of luck.

I have a degree in accounts. It's eleven years since I did any bookkeeping work and I'm now trying to get back into it. I did the accounting technician course to update my skills and now I'm doing a CE scheme to update my work experience.

1400 applied for clerical positions in donegalcoco. These jobs aren't easy to come by or pay well.

Why aren't you looking for jobs in a libraries, in social media management and whatever else communications studies covers?

I can understand that you'd be a candidate for office-admin roles, if you had some office-admin (reception, diary management, travel booking, office-equipment, using standard office software) experience.

But it's crazy to think you'd be selected for entry-level jobs in finance areas, when your qualification is in a totally different area, or to think you can make up for the lack of quals with a simple online or night course.

My job developer advised me not to do a CE scheme because an internship would be better for me, so I'm looking into doing something on the new JobBridge.

I am looking for jobs in libraries and social media, but so far I haven't had any luck with even getting an interview.

All the office admin jobs I've applied to have rejected me without even giving me an interview.

Thanks for the responses all, I really appreciate them all.
