    Hi

I was just having a look at my paye record online. My civil partner and I have been jointly assessed apart from last year (2015) when my partner worked and the credits were allocated differently.

My partner has not worked at all in 2016 and I noticed that on the tax credits for 2016 the amount claimed is 1650 for me and 1650 for my partner. Is that correct or should it be 3330 just for me? My partner has had no income at all in the year.

    Thanks

As civil partners you are not treated as a couple for tax purposes and therefore you can't claim your partners credits. So is should be 3300€ for you.

Civil partnerships are treated the same way as married couples by revenue

I don't see why you wouldn't have been jointly assessed for 2015 because your partner worked?
You're never worse off being jointly assessed.
If you are both in employment, you should both receive 3300 in credits. (1650 personal credit and 1650 PAYE).
If you're not in employment but are earning, you'll get the earned income credit of 950 (was 550 in 2016).
