Hi Im applying for a job as a apple home adviser. I have mobile broadband witch gives me the upload and download speeds needed for the job but have been told mobile wont do.
Just wondering if any one is doing this job with mobile broadband and how much data allowance do you need.

I didn't think it was anything to do with the data allowance as such, but more so the fact that your mobile bandwidth could fluctuate from 40-50Mbps all the way down to <1Mbps without warning and so you would not be able to guarantee being able to sustain a call with a client.

I haven't looked at Apple's Ts&Cs in a while, but I'm not sure even Imagine's LTE service would be adequate for them.

Don't they give you an allowance of €50 a month for broadband?

I'll put it this way to you. Some advisors are on a truly wireless solution, with speeds around 4mb. It works, but part of the job involved a lot of use of internal systems and databases and if that is slow, then it will be frustrating for you and the customer if your system isn't up to the task.

So if you feel confident it will work then fine, but in reality it is your lifeline for the job. Not advisable but existing agents are doing this with some been let go after a few weeks, and some still there 3 years later. depends on the service provider and how reliable they are. It's not speeds, or data allowance but more so Ping time and reliability.

I think Apple would be the same situation as above, that's my take on it anyway.

As above, its jitter. Jitter nukes VOIP. Fixed line is a requirement of the job.

And if you take 15 a week or whatever it'll cost you as a portion of your wages it's worth paying for.
