Can we remove Hardwired from the list? Just in case it does actually win.

It was the most nominated album for some reason. Megadeth was the second most nominated album. :(

Voted for Katatonia. Definitely my favourite metal album of the year.

After feeling a little disappointed with their last release Dead End Kings because of its lighter sound compared to usual, I was pleasantly surprised with The Fall of Hearts, as it had a darkness and heaviness similar to their 2009 release Night Is The New Day.

It took a while to grow, but once it did, this album became my most played of the year. It's full of doom and gloom, but that's what Katatonia do best. One of my favourite bands, and delighted to find that they continue to produce albums that I hold in high regard.

Katatonia have a strong output and you're right, DEK wasn't one of their best so I wasn't in a hurry to check out the latest album but I'll be giving it a spin asap.

I voted for Alcest. I'm a big fan of the first two albums Souvenirs d'un autre monde and Écailles de Lune, but after those they released two mediocre and uninspiring albums. Kodama is a return to their best and was a pleasant surprise when I first heard it.

    Katatonia for me too.
I loved DEK but like The Fall of Hearts it required a lot of spins. I was about to give up on DEK when it hit:)

They have changed their sound without alienating or horrifying their fanbase like Opeth have appeared to do. They also seem to sound better in a live environment. Here's hoping to an Irish date this year

Somewhat embarrassing I haven't listened to the new Katatonia, so giving it a shot now.

I actually really liked Dead End Kings :pac:

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

My actual album of the year never made the cut :( ...

I did put forward Magma too but saw it had practically no chance of winning so do admit I voted Dystopia on the basis it was my fave of the rest of these nominees only 3 of the albums I haven't checked out, have been spinning it lately and enjoy it particularly the first half and is a massive step up from the previous yolk. On another day may have given Vektor the nod at least it got votes too.

Alcest and Katatonia haven't listened to as their last albums didn't do much for me but I must rectify that,Amon Amarth released practically the same album again no interest in the Djent feckers and have listened to the rest sadly Deftones release failed to click yet. Metallica was certainly good for a Metallica release but they can't edit for sh1t and a number of duds on there too.

Stunned that the new Ulcerate record seems to be popping nowhere in the year end lists. It's immense!

I voted for Katatonia in the end anyway. Have been listening to it over the last few days and it's really good.

Hardwired has this wrapped up of course :o

Will have to give the Alcest and Amon Amarth albums a whirl at some point.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Dissociation should be on that list.

Voted for Gojira, surprised I was the only one. I like the Metallica album but.... it's not that special.
