    Hi all,

I'm obsessive about securely storing passwords for everything but for some reason I omitted to save the Admin/Login password for a Win 10 family PC. We've been using a 4 digit PIN option for logging in for the last few months but I now want to reset the password and PIN as too many people know how to log into the machine but I can't reset the password unless I have the current password and there doesn't seem to be a "forgot password" option even after logging in with the PIN.

There is a "Create a password reset disk" option but when I tried that it also requires the current password to be confirmed before progressing.

Am I missing something? Is there anything I can do?

I'd have thought that having the Admin PIN would be the equivalent of having the Admin password so being able to enter the PIN should establish I am the Admin and thus allow me to change passowrds etc but it doesn't.

Feeling like a right tit I can tell you :o

There's a program you can use to reset or wipe all passwords. You simply install it onto a USB stick and boot from it. I used it to reset one of the in-laws password even though she claimed she never set up one but I explicitly set one up for her when setting up her new pc. Ping me ur email and I'll forward you the details for it
