Are there any Australian Shepherd breeders in Ireland?

My partner and I are looking to get our first dog in the next few months. After much online research we are really keen on an Australian Shepherd however it seems they are quite rare in Ireland. Anyone know any good breeders on the Island? Would we have to expand our search to the UK and if so are there complications with buying a puppy abroad (I would imagine the trip back to Ireland might be a tad traumatic for a small pup).

Great thanks Andrea. Can I ask how do you know them? Have you dealt with them in the past?

Contact the IKC (Irish Kennel Club) Mon to Fri not including bank holiday weekends, and ask them for a breeder or breed club secretary for info. Or google ''dog show entry'' web site and check out the next show (IKC licenced shows) and see if your breed is listed for exhibit, the IKC will have a stand at it and you could speak to them there on the day. Now with the summer months you'll find a show most weekends, click on the links for the show schedule and it will list the venue, date, time etc and yes you can go as a spectator but only dogs for exhibit are allowed on the show grounds including dog show car parks (it's IKC rules). For each show, check to see which show ring your breed is being exhibited in as there will be lots and lots of show rings all beside each other and various breeds being exhibited at the same time, at the entrance to each show ring will be a list of breeds for that show ring, once one breed is finished the next breed is shown in that ring. If you find your breed, please bear in mind the exhibitors are busy showing and keeping watch that they dont miss their turn in the show ring, late exhibits are disqualified, so wait until your breed is finished before chatting to them to get their full attention ;) Hope that helps. :)

PS...do NOT follow them into the show ring while judging is going on, only exhibitors and their dogs are allowed in the show rings lol
