Emergency tax refund

Hi, I'm wondering if someone could give me some advice on what is the quickest way to get emergency tax back for this year.

The story is that I was working for an employer for up until May of this year and moved to a new job and my old employer were very very slow to submit a p45 (it took three p43 demands). My p45 was only received by revenue in November and I had paid a few months of emergency tax prior to this which hasn't been refunded to me. I'll contact revenue when their phone lines open but I wanted to know if the quickest way to get my tax refund would be requesting a p21 balancing statement in January. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Your new employer needs to issue your P60 before you apply for p21

For future reference you don't need to submit a P45 to avoid emergency tax. Just call the revenue with your new employer no.
