    Hi,

I am in the market for a laptop and am getting very frustrated with not being able to get what I want with a particular laptop. Many have great RAM and memory yet the processor is basic. (maybe i'm looking in the wrong place)

I have been looking on https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk and am intrigued by the ability to chop and change and make a laptop that I want. Has anyone else used them before.

I am also looking at a higher end Lenovo Yoga laptop. What are peoples opinions on Lenovo computers/laptops (I come from the Dell era and have found that the quality is now terrible)

    Thanks

Yes, I'm typing on a PC Specialist laptop now ! I bought it in Sept 2013 and am still very happy with it. It still boots up in 10 seconds, which is helped by having an SSD as my C Drive. I've had Dell, Sony, Toshiba and HP laptops over the years and none of them have gone near the performance and reliability of this laptop. Now, I must say that I got a lot of bells and whistles, and as I have my own limited company, I paid for the 3 year silver warranty and was able to buy it ex vat. The ex vat price was €1500, but you get what you pay for. Here is part of the spec I got 3 years ago

Chassis & Display Optimus Series: 17.3" Glossy Full HD LED Widescreen (1920x1080)
    Processor (CPU) Intel® Core™i7 Quad Core Mobile Processor i7-4700MQ (2.40GHz) 6MB
    Memory (RAM) 16GB SAMSUNG 1600MHz SODIMM DDR3 MEMORY (2 x 8GB)
    Graphics Card NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 765M - 2.0GB DDR5 Video RAM - DirectX® 11
    Memory - 1st Hard Disk 240GB INTEL® 530 SERIES SSD, SATA 6 Gb/s (upto 540MB/sR |
    490MB/sW)
    2nd Hard Disk 1TB SEAGATE HYBRID GEN3 SSHD Drive, SATA 6 Gb/s, 64MB CACHE
    (5400 rpm)
    1st DVD/BLU-RAY Drive 6x BLURAY WRITER, 8x DVD ±R/±RW & CYBERLINK SOFTWARE
Memory Card Reader Internal 9 in 1 Card Reader (MMC/RSMMC/SD: Mini, XC & HC/MS: Pro &
    Duo)
Thermal Paste ARCTIC MX-4 EXTREME THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY COMPOUND
Sound Card ASUS™ XONAR-U7 Compact 7.1 USB soundcard and headphone
    amplifier
    Wireless/Wired Networking GIGABIT LAN & KILLER™ 1202 WIRELESS GAMING 802.11N +
    BLUETOOTH 4.0
    USB Options 3 x USB 3.0 PORTS + 1 x USB 2.0 PORT AS STANDARD
Battery Optimus Series 8 Cell Lithium Ion Battery (5,200 mAh/76.96WH)
Power Cable 1 x UK Power Lead & 120W AC Adaptor
Operating System Genuine Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit w/SP1 - inc DVD & Licence

I'm undecided whether to go for another this coming September, as it's going so well, but if I do, I'll go for an even bigger SSD. TBH, it was a little bit of overkill, but there you go.

    Thanks Mumha,

This helps a lot. Still investigating.

I know what it's like ! I was the same when researching the laptop and then a smartwatch last year. Currently I'm driven demented trying to decide on a tablet for myself, and another for my son (although I think I have decided on that one).
