Hi - I am hoping to import a single bottle of Antique wine for personal use from the UK.Price is approx £300.

I this is shipped by post, would it be subject to Excise, VAT etc in Ireland?

    Thanks

    Simple answer is yes.

Might be classed as a collectable item and not attract duty but you'd need to check this out.

I'd also be wary of taking advice from strangers on the Internet. You'll get lots of "I shipped x, y & Z from wherever with no problems". Thing is that this doesn't answer your question.

The other problem is that vendors routinely lie about duty issues.

Download Brave browser, it gets rid of the ads. #saveboards

I believe the vendor has to be registered to pay excise to the revenue here in the absence of which the bottle may be seized. As the poster above has suggested, the person selling you this bottle is probably the last person you should ask in order to clarify the situation.

Though good questions to ask would be "Can you show me the paperwork that Irish customs sent you which proves this is above board?" and "Will you give me my money back if I don't get the wine?"
