Oomph, a new portable coffee maker

    Got one for a week now and I love it.
    Makes great tasting coffee and is really handy round the office.

    Anyone else got one?

    Looks interesting. Sort of an insulated french press with lid. How much did yours cost, did you get it here in Ireland? Might be worth a go if it's cheap enough.

    I guess I was hoping that it would brew when you need it rather than preparing it beforehand - it makes me wonder why a travel mug doesn't do the same job, but I guess you could brew with any source of hot water... in which case I wonder why I wouldn't just bring my Aeropress like normal! Going in circles here :D I dunno what the whole speech was about expensive espresso machines when this doesn't do anything that an espresso machine does.

    This was a kickstarter project and cost 50 odd Euro; should be available for sale now on the Oomph website.

    The main reason I went for this was that in our canteen we only have instant coffee and no space or time to faff around with filters, cups, stirring, waiting etc.
    All I need to do with the oomph is pour the hot water and then I can get out of the way and do the plunging (and drinking) somewhere else (and at a later time).
    Cleaning is just as easy...just empty it out, pump some fresh water through and it's done.

    A full oomph makes about 1.5 standard mugs (or at least two cups) of very good tasting coffee that stays hot for nearly an hour ...perfect for what I wanted it for.

    Have you used an Aeropress? Just wondering how the two compare in terms of texture and flavour

    i have one. very similar to an aeropress in both method and taste, but a couple of differences
    makes more than an aeropress
    less danger of spillage

    taste is slightly different as well, i like it. would happily drink from either this or the aeropress, this will be my work maker

    backed it when ti first started as a crowdfunding project, has been a bit of a wait!!

    Same here....its been a very long and frustrating wait, it is very similar to an aeropress, but with some improvements to the brew process.
