Was out late night side in herselfs car when this popped up on the dash limped it home which was about half a mile.

Car is a 2008 1.4 petrol Peugeot 308 only have a cheap elm reader and its showing fault code p1340 which seems to indicate a fault on cylinder 4.

Anyone see this before or what it might be
    Thanks all happy xmas.

If you were lucky could be just a duff spark plug in cyl 4
if you are unlucky could be faulty coil cyl 4
    If your really unlucky
could be sticking valve / camshaft sensor / injector/

I would say have a look at the plug first maybe swop it with cyl 1 if it looks ok and see does the fault move to cyl 1

Im just guessing here but as someone who drives a 00 astra and has done nearly every imaginable job on it
that is where I would start
    Happy Christmas

Cheers to be honest wouldn't have a clue i saw that clip on youtube so I removed the ignition coil plug on number 4.
Look to be a reasonable price on like for a Bosch online so hopefully its that or a spark plug.

Local tyre place is open tomorrow so might pop over and ask him what he thinks.

Hope its nothing serious car is a second car and only has 53k km on it all its ever needed is a service new tyres and one lock on the drivers door.

Hope its not an injector 😢

You could take out the spark plug and move it to a different cylinder and then if the fault comes back on same cylinder
If the issue moves to another cyl its the spark plug

If the issue stays with cylinder 4 you could swap the coil to a different cylinder to see if the problem moves
if after moving the plug and the coil the problem persists on same cylinder then you would probably want to consider leaving it in with a local garage / mechanic

Cylinder number 1 is the one on the left hand side when looking into the engine bay from outside the car
where the timing belt end is

On older Peugeot/Renaults the plugs were numbered from the gearbox end .
Not sure if this has changed but it did cause confusion . the plug nearest the timing belt was No. 4 .

Quick update got the new ignition coil today for 35 in the local factors.

30 seconds job reset the fault with torque and took it for quick spin all seems well.

    Thanks all for the replies

Have a peugeot 308 hdi which was showing up anti pollution faulty along with a engine warning light so got a diagnostic and this fault was listed as permanent along with EGR and Air mass meter as intermittent.

Garage are recommending the whole turbo needs to be replaced at a cost of 1500. Does anyone know if the car could survive a drive to Galway from dublin?
