Can anyone recommend a good horror movie?

I can't stand Christmas, so I'd like to watch non Christmas movies.

Never mind. Just found the old Charlie and the chocolate factory movie. I used to love this.

Not a horror movie, but a horror series - American Horror Story.

    Irreversible or Old Boy.

Would brighten up any evening in front of the tv.

    Both subtitled though.

    The Omen.

It's even got the birth of (an anti-)Christ in it, pure Christmassy.

Black Christmas. The 1974 original, not the terrible remake. Great slasher flick!

I really don't like horror movies but The Witch was an excellent film.

Was watching "the raid" last night it's 90 minutes of Indonesians kicking and stabbing each other, definitely not a Xmas movie.

Great action and there's a sequel which I haven't seen.

For the OP, Gremlins. Bit of horror, bit of comedy and it's Xmassy

The Chaser. More of a thriller but there are some fairly horrific scenes in it, but astounding film all the same, it's loosely based on a Korean serial killer.

It shouldn't need to be said but in all cases watch the original and not the remakes.

    Other Horrors to consider

Rare Exports - it's Christmasy too

100 Bloody Acres. Daylight in Oz complete antidote to Christmas

Nosferatu - One of the few films where the remake is worth watching too.

    Let the right one in.

BTW if you are watching the Return of the Jedi , remember the Ewoks eat people, remember that next time you see them capture a Stormtrooper.

I'll probably watch RAN over the holiday. Lovely colours. So many scenes could be paintings. It's a Shakespearian tragedy set in the Warring States Period of feudal Japan, it ain't a comedy.

    Second this suggestion.

The creepiest phone calls in any film. The girl with the head wrapped in plastic displayed in the attic window. Very good slasher alright.

The Exorcist 3 is very creepy
