Bought a tanco this year. Best thing I bought in a long time. Should of had it years a go.

Bought a tanco bale shear this year speeds up feeding wraps by at least half. Seldom have to leave the cab. They are pricey but are well built and definitely worth every penny. The key to them I find is to put plenty of pressure on the bale to make sure it holds the plastic and net. Silage is easier to tidy up as well as its broke up better. Have also used it for spreading straw.

Bought the tanco 3 yrs ago now and as previous posters said its a great job , bales in in 1/4 the time , you'd need 100hp + tractor though

I will be putting bales into the shed < no diet feeder here >, any issues with plastic getting caught under the silage

Sometimes it will but its only a matter if lifting a bit of silage with the bale shear and pulling it out. I don't mind that though as theres almost nearly no getting up and down off the tractor for every bale

The reason I didnt go for it was because it looked to be very bulky a nd awakward. Seemed to be very heavy on a tractor aswell.
Let us know your decision when you make one

We have a Pro Dig in a loading shovel and I couldn't recommend highly enough.

My neighbour has a Tanco and loves it.

Btw I wouldn't consider ProDig unless you've a loader. If you've got a shovel it the mutts nuts. 40 bales opened today including 15 bales of hay and didn't have to leave cab once.

Have ours on a mf 4245, 80ish hp.
No problems moving bales but would want to be on even ground when splitting as you have to lift bale to a height.
Tanco i70 which is a lighter version .(Not sold any more.) Had a different make but 90 kg heavier on trail but the tractor was like a jack Russell going around on 3 wheels.
Had a job to find a new version of the lighter model as they stopped making them end 2015.

Was keeping an eye out for bale splitters at the ploughing. Ruled out keltec, wat to heavy for tractor. So it’s between cashel, nugent or tanco. Does anyone have either the cashel or nugent and any comment on them?

A neighbour bought a polish made splitter at ploughing, think he called it a sonst or something, gave 3700 for it, awaiting delivery. will let you know when i see it, he has a 80hp zetor and like you ruled out keltec because of weight
