Seal gap between footpath and house?

    Hi all, bought a house last year and something has been nagging at me since. It wasn't raised by the engineer in the inspection but I would like to get an opinion (or two) on it all the same.

    At the point where the house meets the footpath, there is no visible seal or tight joint. See pictures attached.

    Does this look right? Should I get it looked at?

    Personally in my own opinion I can't see an immediate issue with this, to me it looks like the footpaths in front of the house have been replaced recently so the slight gap which only seems very small, is probably related to shrinkage on the concrete in the footpaths when it was curing.

    Unless is the fall on the footpaths falling towards the house rather than away from the house and this is what your engineer report is referring too?

    The engineer didn't actually mention it at all but it has been nagging at me.

    Footpath does slightly slope towards the house at the corner. One for the council?

    Yea could be one for the council if the slope footpath falling towards the house causes any damp issues, but I am assuming the house is a standard two leaf wall with cavity and DPC, so assume there shouldn't be any issue but keep an eye on it

    Hi,

    There isn't a seal between ext concrete surface and outer leaf in most cases. If this was a paving slab surface for example, it wouldn't have a seal. An insitu conc path is no different in that sense.

    If water appears to be getting in then Tec-7 it. Council likely won't even bother responding to you on something like this - or if they do, you'll be fobbed off.
