    Hi,

Basically since I graduated from university I haven't been able to find work related to my degree in biochemistry. Nearly ever position that is advertised is requesting at least 1 years work experience, which I do not have. Does anyone know any companies around Limerick/Clare/Cork that would be willing to take on to take on someone for unpaid work experience? Or any advice in general would be appreciated, thank you!

    Hi Roe,

I was in a similar situation to you when I graduated from biotech in 2015. In my experience, it's really luck of the draw in regards to finding positions without experience in the life science area. I was lucky, however I wasn't happy with my particular role so I moved on.

If you are looking to get involved in the biopharmaceutical industry I would really recommend upskilling and doing a course with national institute for bioprocessing research and training (NIBRT) on the UCD campus. These are often FREE under the springboard programme presuming you are claiming social welfare.

NIBRT are well known within the likes Pfizer, Bristol-Myers Squibb and other major MNCs in Ireland. So they will look great on a CV.

I've just completed a 3 month Quality Control in Biopharma course which ultimately led me to a job half way through the course.
