Xbox Kit query

I recently bought an Xbox one but was unable to get a Kinnect as it ...has been discontinued. I was then told that I could get the Kinnect second-hand but I would also need to contact Microsoft and prove I had a new Xbox (which i do) and get a special adapter from them for the Kinnect. is this correct or can i just get the Kinnect second-hand and will this work with the Xbox one? TIA

As far as I know, if its one of the newer model Xboxs you have to get the adapter from Microsoft, but it's free.

If you have a one s (slim) yes it needs an adaptor , the adaptor is only free as far as I know if you have the serial number from an older fat xbox.
