The man said that he himself had been sexually abused when he was ten by his brother although he had made no formal complaint to the authorities.

The same bloke who assaulted his disabled 6 year old son had (apparently) previously sexually assaulted his own brother during childhood.

It's one of those cases where you wouldn't mind at all if his fellow inmates found out what he's in for - although sick animals like this are segregated as far as I know.

A crime like this is why we need stronger sentences than prison time IMO. It's no deterrent to many criminals anyway.

In some prisons yes but other inmates actually avoid looking at them - they don't pay any attention to pedophiles or child molesters they cut them off completely.

I read that earlier this evening and my take on it was that the father has already got 20yrs and the current case is the father's brother (child's uncle) being tried, and hopefully gets a similar sentence.

It mentioned the Australian police in the story. A while back they managed to get admin access to one of the largest sites on the deep web that deals with this kind of stuff. They arrested the owner but kept the site up and working for months afterwards so they could identify the biggest/worst users. They've spent the last year or so arresting those involved with the site. I wonder if this was related.

That was the uncle who got 20 years he was the one who filmed it. The other man raped the child.

Unfortunate as it is what happened to his nephew, that guy himself was a victim of his brother's too. It's not uncommon for victims to become complicit in the actions of their abuser towards others.

Bull****. Lots of people suffer serious abuse and it makes them a hell of a lot more adverse to seeing it happen to someone else. They act much quicker against it.
That was a cop out on the uncle's part, he should have gotten the same, complicit wanker.

One good thing here is that international authorities co-operated and found these scumbags. It must be a terribly difficult job to do, though, looking at photos and videos in detail to identify victims and perpetrators.

I hope they live in fear every day they are behind bars. I wouldn't blame prison officers for facilitating in these two getting a severe beating. Let these brats see how it feels to be helpless and fearful.

These people are obviously sub human scum, but I don't like the idea of proposing they be subject to adult rape as an antidote to child rape. Let them rot in prison, but lowering society to the level of depravity that they did themselves won't either unhurt the child, or make society better for anyone.

Detention for the rest of their lives should be the punishment.

Poor little pet, the saddest part of this story was that when Gardaí visited the house where he lived, they found that the poor little thing was fond of his rapist father........ 20 years is not enough punishment for that sick waste of a human skin. There's no justice in this world.

I'm sorry as I can see the point you're trying to make but this apologist stuff doesn't wash with me at all.

These are 2 grown adults we're talking about - worse, we're talking about the poor little fella's father and uncle.. two of the last people he should have to worry about. Not only did they physically and mentally abuse the poor child, they completely betrayed the trust and duty of care that should have existed.

This little boy is the only victim here.. not the 2 sub-human scum who did this to him.

It's common for the abused to seek approval from the abuser. Saw this article on FB today and also read the case of the woman beaten and raped by her husband, he only got five years. His words were 'no God can save you now'. There is so much sickness out there and nobody seems to notice obviously because they are not aware. But at Christmas it's terrible to think of the pain in some individuals lives that have become the norm for them. It makes me sad and somehow makes me half despise the mass consumerism occurring. There is a lot of goodness in the world but sometimes it doesn't spread far enough.

'Brats' is a bit of an understatement, unless a brat is a newly discovered type of sh1t-munching maggot. At least the judge handed down a hefty sentence to the father, rather than this nonsense of 5 years with the last 3 suspended that we see all too often.
